The Phillips Exeter Academy recently announced that the 2015-2016 George Bennett Fellow will be Peter Anderson.
Peter Anderson is a former backcountry ranger, river guide, small town newspaper reporter, editor/publisher of Pilgrimage Magazine, and poetry editor for theMountain Gazette. He teaches writing at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. Recently, Peter co-edited Going Down Grand: Poems from the Canyon, an anthology of Grand Canyon poems (Lithic Press). His publications include a dozen children’s books on topics related to the history and natural history of the American West. First Church of the Higher Elevations, a collection of essays on mountains and spirituality originally published in 2005, was just re-issued by Conundrum Press. Conundrum Press will also publish Nightlife and other Notes from the Big Empty, a collection of short prose, in 2016. His poems have appeared in New Poets of the American West (Many Voices Press) and other anthologies.
During his fellowship year, he will be working on a mystery set in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
